Marco Woolf

Marco Woolf is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, poet and storyteller from Manchester mixing jazz and folk music, and drawing inspiration from artists including John Martyn and Nick Drake. He channels these influences through delicate and introspective songs that unfold gently, combining tenderness and spirituality, shimmering folk guitar and rippling kalimba, whilst simultaneously pushing into more exploratory jazz improvisation and post-rock.

He’s joined on this tour by composer and guitarist Carmel Smickersgill, pianist Tom Harris and drummer Miriam Willott, Andy Patterson – bass, and Raye Harvey – violin/vocals.

Here’s a link to some of Marco’s wonderful music, recorded for We Out Here festival in 2020: https://youtu.be/tHfFdbKgQRs

“Woolf’s music is at the same time light, complex, rich and immediate, swarming with micro-details that multiply with each new listen.” PAM (Pan African Music Online)

This concert is made possible thanks to the help of our friends at Jazz North, through the Northern Connections tour, a new project showcasing emerging artists based in the North of England.
