London resident American trumpeter and composer Andre Canniere brings his latest group to Sheffield featuring singer Brigitte Beraha and saxophonist Tori Freestone alongside an all-star rhythm section. Their performance will focus on music from their acclaimed album ‘Ghost Days’, with sweeping melodies, rich harmony and powerful improvising where each piece had a poem as its starting point. Lyrics are provided by the poets Rebecca Lynch and Malika Booker defining the mood, rhythm and phrasing of the melody while the music composed by Canniere echoes and develops those emotions, a development of his adventures into the territory between jazz, folk and fusion.
“…the music sounds totally natural and organic and is likely to appeal to adventurous rock and pop listeners as well as the regular jazz audience” – 4★ review of ‘Ghost Days’ theJazzMann.com
